CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron sophomore tennis player Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and to the all-league first team, while fellow sophomore Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
"Rebuilding isn't accomplished overnight, and with only three upperclassmen on a team of nine players, our youth has certainly shown up throughout the year," said head coach Brandon Padgett. "That being said, I could not be more proud of the growth of this team, and without question, the growth of Ariadna and Sophia as both players and people.
