JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The University of Akron women's tennis team fell in a 6-0 decision versus nationally ranked No. 66 Winthrop on Saturday afternoon at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.
"We haven't hit outside since last October, and it really showed today," head coach Brandon Padgett said. "A few players were able to find a rhythm, but overall, we struggled."
Akron was not able to participate in doubles action due to illness while Winthrop swept singles play.
In No. 1 singles, sophomore Ariadna Blinova (Riga, Latvia) competed against Winthrop's Lauren Proctor but fell 6-1, 6-0.
