AKRON, Ohio – Zips Athletics has retained the services of Sam Maniar, Ph.D., to provide mental health and performance enhancement consultation for student-athletes and coaches, Senior Associate Athletics Director Mary Lu Gribschaw announced on Friday.
Maniar will provide counseling and sport psychology services as an extension of the sports medicine department.
"We are committed to developing and caring for our student-athletes in a multitude of ways," Gribschaw said. "By bringing in the Center for Peak Performance and Dr. Maniar, we believe our student-athletes and coaches will be better equipped to handle the unique challenges and opportunities that Division I sports provide.
