The University of Akron women’s basketball team defeated Canisius College on Sunday, 73-64, as guard Hannah Plybon posted a career night by making a school-record nine 3-pointers.
The victory improves the Zips’ record to 2-1 on the season, while the Griffins fall to 1-2.
Plybon’s monster game from deep gave her 39 points. She made nine of 14 3-pointers and all six free throws she attempted. She also pulled in six rebounds and recorded two assists in 37 minutes.
Also for the Zips, Megan Sefcik came off the bench with 12 points on 3-5 shooting from deep and 3-3 from the foul line.
