Plybon scores career point 1,000 as Zips beat Miami 77-65

The University of Akron women’s basketball team beat the Miami RedHawks 77-65 on Saturday, Feb. 6, at James A. Rhodes Arena.

The Zips improved to 12-10 on the season and to 6-5 in the conference while the RedHawks fell to 9-12 and 3-7 in the MAC.

Akron received 65 of its 77 points from just three players. Hannah Plybon led the way with a career-high 26 points, helped by her five 3-pointers and five free throws. Forward Diandra Gibson finished with 20 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Finally, the team’s top scorer Anita Brown added 19 points, five assists, two blocks, and a team-high eight rebounds.
