AMES, Iowa - University of Akron junior track and field standout Clayton Murphy (New Paris, Ohio) turned in a school-record time of 1:46.11 to capture the 800-meter title at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Murphy's performance broke his own school-record mark by nearly a second and represented the second-fastest time in the country this season.
Murphy also bested former Iowa State standout Edward Kemboi, who captured NCAA titles in the 800 meters at the 2015 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships, by .
