CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron junior center Isaiah Johnson has been named the 2016 Mid-American Conference Sixth Man of the Year, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Johnson is the fifth Zip to earn the honor, joining current teammate Jake Kretzer (2014), Quincy Diggs (2012), Brett McKnight (2009) and Cedrick Middleton (2007).
"Its a real testament to Isaiah's character," head coach Keith Dambrot said. "He cares more about winning and doing what is best for the team than being a starter, "In the sixth-man role, he competes at high level and leads the team in scoring, field goal percentage, and rebounding.
