OFFICIAL 800-METER SEMIFINAL RESULTS (8/13/16)
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Parlayed by his patented finishing kick, Clayton Murphy earned a berth in the 800-meter final on the strength of establishing a personal-best time of 1:44.30 in the semifinal round on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the XXXI Summer Olympics.
Murphy finished second to only defending Olympic champion David Rudisha of Kenya in the third and final heat to garner a coveted automatic qualifying mark.
"I am proud to represent America," said Murphy. "I gained a lot of confidence in the semifinal and I excited to run in the final on Monday.
