Akron, Ohio – The Akron Zips men's basketball team opens the 2016-17 season ranked No. 12 on the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 preseason poll.
The Zips were one of two Mid-American Conference schools to be ranked in the Top 25 preseason poll with three others receiving votes. Akron received 387 points for the 12th spot. Ohio joined the Top 25 at No. 16 with 217 points, while the other MAC schools receiving votes were Buffalo (31), Ball State (21), and Eastern Michigan (2).
