Ellet High School senior Marquise Bridges is staying local for college following his commitment to play football on scholarship at the University of Akron.
Bridges is a 5-foot-10 and 180-pound running back and defensive back standout for Ellet. He said UA recruited him to play running back.
“I chose Akron because I felt the need to make a difference for my hometown and to stay close to family and friends,” Bridges said. “Also, the next couple of years I strongly believe Akron will be the team to beat in the Mid-American Conference.”
Bridges enjoyed a breakout junior year on offense and defense, totaling 154 carries for 1,222 yards and 24 touchdowns, one kickoff return touchdown and 47 tackles, 2.
