DeKalb, Ill. – The Akron Zips seven-game winning streak came to an end in the final seconds, falling by one point, 80-79, to Northern Illinois on Saturday at the NIU Convocation Center. The Huskies snapped a five-game losing streak while improving to 17-8 and 6-6 in Mid-American Conference play while the Zips fall to 20-5 and 9-3 in league play.
With 15 seconds remaining, Zips' junior center Isaiah Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio) buried two free throws to give Akron a one-point 79-78 advantage.
