Kannapolis, N.C. – After finishing the first round tied for 12th place, the Akron Zips men's golf team improved by eight strokes in the second round to remain 12th overall after 36-holes at The Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate on Saturday.
The Zips fired a 303 (+19) first round and followed with a 295 (+11) for a 598 (+30) two-round total. Kennesaw State, 567 (-1), leads the 16-team field by one stroke heading into the final day of competition at the 7,099-yard par 71 The Club at Irish Creek course.
Sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England) led the Zips' scoring and currently ranks 25th overall with a 147 (+5) tally.
