Powered by eight first-efforts on the women's side, Akron bettered Kent State 80-71. In the men's competition, the Zips garnered eight winning performances to edge the Golden Flashes, 79-61. Redshirt junior Mike Ohiembor (Dayton, Ohio) turned in a school-record leap of 52-5.
