Clemson has yet to relinquish the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. But there is some suspense for the ACC, and it all centers around an upset in the championship game on Saturday.
North Carolina (11-1) moved up four spots to No. 10, but is still ranked behind three two-loss teams: No. 7 Stanford (10-2), No. 8 Notre Dame (10-2) and No. 9 Florida State (10-2), not to mention No. 6 Ohio State (11-1), which has no shot at a conference championship. Since the selection committee has said it would strongly favor conference champions, let us focus this argument on two teams in conference championship games: North Carolina and Stanford.
