It's silly to judge the progress of a program based on two games under a new head coach. College football fans aren't the most patient group, though, so the first two games of the Justin Fuente era at Virginia Tech warrant some examination.
The starting point is the obvious: The Hokies are 1-1 with a less-than-dominant (but still relatively easy) win over Liberty and a 21-point loss to Tennessee. The start looks an awful lot like the first two games of 2015 under the former administration.
So has there been progress?
Again, this is a tricky question because the sample size is small and Fuente is still laying the groundwork for the long-term success of the program.
