When the Memphis Tigers hired Justin Fuente in 2012, the team was coming off of a 2-10 season under the direction of Larry Porter. Taking over a team devoid of talent and in need of an overhaul, Fuente led the team to a 4-8 record in 2012, followed by a 3-9 record in 2013. But in his third year in the program, the Tigers went 10-3 in 2014, which led to Fuente being one of the most sought-after coaching candidates in America.
Following another 9-3 record this season, Fuente has reportedly accepted an offer from Virginia Tech to replace the retiring Frank Beamer as the team’s next head football coach.
