Troubling inconsistencies drop Florida State from among elite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- It might be criminal to criticize an undefeated regular season, conference championship and playoff berth, but that’s what is about to happen.

Florida State's 2014 season is where the pernicious inconsistencies, pinpointed by Jimbo Fisher as the root of the Seminoles’ struggles, started to surface, and three seasons later, it’s reached a stage where it’s knocked Florida State from the top of the ACC.

They weren’t the best team in 2015, but now sitting at 0-2 in the conference -- an exclusive club they join only Boston College and Duke in -- Florida State is squarely behind Clemson as the conference’s premier program.
