Syracuse redshirt senior running back Devante McFarlane has decided to leave the program, the school confirmed to ESPN.com.
Syracuse.com reported the news earlier Tuesday.
The 6-foot, 198-pound McFarlane saw his playing time diminish last season after Jordan Fredericks leaped ahead of him on the depth chart. McFarlane rushed for 102 yards last season and caught two passes for 27 yards.
The Wheatley Heights, New York native finishes his Orange career with 563 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 10 catches for 116 yards.
Syracuse returns its top two rushers from last season in the sophomore Fredericks (607 yards, four touchdowns) and redshirt senior George Morris (326 yards).
