Former Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino underwent emergency surgery Wednesday after he suddenly lost vision in his left eye during a trip to Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
According to the Louisville Courier-Journal's Danielle Lerner, Dale Romans—who trains a horse Pitino co-owns—said the 65-year-old had surgery for a detached retina.
The operation was reportedly successful.
According to Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee, Pitino returned to the track Thursday wearing dark glasses.
Pitino—who was fired by Louisville in October amid an FBI probe into corruption and bribery in college basketball—co-owns three-year-old filly Coach Rocks with Roddy Valente.
