CLEMSON, S.C. — When the ball left his hand, Deshaun Watson thought he’d missed another big play down the field. He chucked bomb after bomb in the first half, overthrowing his receiver five times and tossing two interceptions.
As the pass rush scattered around him, however, Watson leaned down to get a look at Artavis Scott, streaking down the sideline. The speedy Clemson receiver chased down the pass, hauled it in, and rumbled into the end zone for a 51-yard touchdown.
“I thought to myself, if he throws this ball, I’m going to score,” Scott said of the play.
