CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- It was receiver Mack Hollins who came up with the moniker. North Carolina was on the verge of eclipsing so many long-standing marks, it seemed obvious, and so when Hollins raced onto the practice field last Monday, he yelled it again and again.
“It’s history week,” he shouted, and the team relished in the notion. It became the Tar Heels’ focus for a week of prep to make history.
They didn’t lock up their first trip to the ACC championship game, but that was through no fault of their own. Pitt’s win over Duke kept that celebration on ice for one more week.
