Nicholas Conte's commuting could pay off with All-ACC accolades

Nicholas Conte always wanted to play football. His mom, who was apprehensive about injuries, said she would be fine with him being a punter or kicker.

So in between playing lacrosse and swimming as a high school junior, he started teaching himself how to punt using YouTube videos. When football tryouts came just before his senior year, he made the team.

One year later, he earned a preferred walk-on spot at Virginia. But earning a spot on a roster at a Power 5 school after being self-taught off the internet is not the most remarkable part about his story.
