Bobby Petrino has had high-powered offenses just about everywhere he has coached. This season, however, has been a major struggle.
So much so, Petrino said after practice Monday night, "Right now on offense, we’re not very good."
Youth and inexperience have been major culprits. Five freshmen are expected to start on offense against Wake Forest on Friday, including three at perhaps the most difficult spots: quarterback and both offensive tackles.
Two of the top three leading receivers are true freshmen Jaylen Smith and Traveon Samuel. The starting receivers are transfers in their first year playing at Louisville.
