The ACC’s best individual story of 2016 added another chapter Thursday, as Pitt running back James Conner was named the winner of the Brian Piccolo Award, which goes to the league’s most courageous athlete.
Additionally, Wake Forest safety Ryan Janvion was named the winner of the Jim Tatum Award, which goes to the league’s top senior student-athlete.
After missing all but one game last season because of an MCL tear, Conner, the 2014 ACC player of the year, was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma on Thanksgiving. The redshirt junior beat the disease, returned for fall camp and has shown no signs of slowing down since.
