Interim Miami coach Larry Scott is 2-0 as the Hurricanes’ coach and led the program to bowl eligibility with a 27-21 win over Virginia.
What the win means for Miami: Don’t look now, but the Hurricanes are probably in the next best position to win the ACC Coastal Division after North Carolina now. Miami is 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the ACC with both conference losses to Atlantic teams, and its remaining games are against 5-0 UNC, 4-1 Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech. If the Canes win out and UNC loses at Virginia Tech or at NC State the last two weeks, Miami will play for an ACC championship for the first time in school history.
