The Roanoke Times, in its offseason countdown, lists running back Travon McMillian as Virginia Tech’s fourth most important player -- and for good reason.
After McMillian took over the starting job last season, he was a force for the Hokies’ often-inconsistent offense, finishing the season with 1042 yards and appearing to secure his spot as one of the top young runners in the country. As our look at the ACC’s top rushers showed, he was particularly strong in short yardage, and he was a huge part of Virginia Tech’s game plan -- accounting for 35 percent of all first- and second-down touches from Week 6 on.
