By the numbers: Five keys to Florida State's defensive turnaround

A year ago, Charles Kelly was the target for much of the ire from Florida State fans frustrated by a defense loaded with NFL talent but short on impressive performances. Now, many of those same fans are celebrating news that Kelly has declined overtures from other teams in need of a defensive coordinator.

In other words, a lot has changed in a year, and after Florida State’s D became the first team since Alabama in 2011 to hold every regular-season opponent to fewer than 25 points, Kelly looks like a genius.

In truth, the reclamation of the Seminoles’ defense has been a wide-ranging effort.
