In other words, the first College Football Playoff committee rankings didn’t exactly offer much surprise for the ACC.
The Tigers, who ran the table as the committee’s No. 1 seed last season, are No. 2 in the committee’s first rankings, and if they can win out, should be a lock for the playoff. Louisville (No. 7), which stands virtually no chance of getting into the ACC’s title game, will need to jump several teams with conference championship hopes still intact, including Washington and Ohio State, if they want to climb into the playoff conversation.
