Syracuse’s firing of Scott Shafer brought the total number of FBS head coach openings to 13. And that is a list that is sure to grow come Black Sunday.
Three of those current openings are in the ACC -- only two because of firings, plus Frank Beamer's retirement at Virginia Tech -- and fellow ACC coaches were quick to jump to the defense of one of their own Monday in light of the shakeup in central New York.
