The Washington Nationals are reportedly set to hire Bud Black as the sixth manager in franchise history, according to multiple sources close to the organization.
Per James Wagner of The Washington Post, "the Nationals have not announced Black’s expected hiring as Major League Baseball frowns upon teams making major announcements during the World Series."
Black managed the Padres for eight and a half seasons before he was fired by the team in the middle of the 2015 campaign. He posted a 649-713 overall record and never reached the playoffs during his time with the club.
However, he does have a fantastic reputation when it comes to working with pitchers and his relaxed management style could be a major breath of fresh air in the wake of the Matt Williams era in D.C.
