The Washington Nationals have expressed a strong interest in bringing back pitcher Tyler Clippard in a deal with the Oakland A's, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Clippard has been linked to the Nats, Mets, and Yankees in recent reports. He has posted a 2.79 ERA, 8.8 K/9, and 4.9 BB/9 in his first season in Oakland to go along with 17 saves, although the Yankees would use him in a setup capacity.
Clippard was originally drafted by the Yankees in 2003 and made his big-league debut with the club in 2007 before spending the next seven years in the Nationals bullpen.
