The MLB trade deadline on August 1st is rapidly approaching, and the trade rumors around the Washington Nationals are starting to heat up. Washington is 56-37 and in first place in the NL East. But the Nats could look for another upgrade or two at the deadline, with the bullpen the likely target. With that in mind, here all the latest Nationals trade rumors.
Potential Yankees-Nationals Deal?
The New York Yankees and Washington Nationals could be getting close to a trade, as the Yankees are reportedly checking out the Nationals' farm system.

The Nationals have been connected to bullpen help in recent weeks, and the Yankees have both Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman. In particular, Chapman makes sense given his connection to Dusty Baker. Both were with the Cincinnati Reds for several years. With Chapman's set to hit free agency after this year, he's a prime trade candidate. What the Nationals would need to give up is unclear.
Nationals Scouting Jake Odorizzi?
The Rays starter has been mentioned in trade rumors since before the start of the season, and the Nationals are now one of several teams looking at him.

The Nationals' top four rotation of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Tanner Roark is set. But the fifth spot in the rotation is unsettled with Joe Ross on the DL. Odorizzi is under team control through the 2019 season and could be as high as the No. 3 starter. The 26-year-old righty is 4-5 this year with a 4.39 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. Those figures are slightly above his career averages.
Washington Also After Matt Moore?
Odorizzi isn't the only Rays pitcher the Nationals are scouting. The Tampa Bay Times reports the Nationals were one of several teams to send scouts to Moore's latest start Saturday. The lefty posted 7 1/3 innings of five-hit ball, allowing two runs. Moore is 5-7 this year, with a 4.33 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. The 27-year-old is under team control through the 2019 season. Like Odorizzi, Moore could be the No. 3 starter.
