The Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants got into one of the biggest bench-clearing brawls in recent memory, and it will likely be the biggest brawl of the season. The brawl stems from bad blood between Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland and Nationals star Bryce Harper.
Harper blasted two home runs off of Strickland during the 2014 postseason (here and here) and the two had words to say to each other each time. Three years later, they have re-ignited their feud. It's the first time the two have gone against each other since those 2014 playoffs.
In the top of the 8th inning, Strickland hit Harper with a pitch, which caused Harper to charge the mound. The two traded some serious punches as the benches cleared, creating an all-out brawl.
Both players were ejected from the game, the first time Harper has ever been ejected for fighting.
Washington beat the Giants, 3-0.
