The Washington Nationals' bullpen has been inconsistent on the back end all month long. So, it's no wonder that the rumor mill is heating up regarding a potential return for Tyler Clippard back to D.C.
Here's Byron Kerr of MASN Sports with the report:
Could the Nationals possibly be interested in reuniting with Clippard in another return-to-sender deal with the A's?
There is a buzz around minor league parks, and some scouts say that they wouldn't be surprised if Clippard returns to D.C. Oakland could use a replenishment to their farm system, and the Nats aren't afraid to deal with them.
Clippard has a 1-3 record with a 3.20 ERA and nine saves in 25.1 innings (25 appearances) for Oakland. The A's are currently in last place in the American League West, prompting many to think that another fire sale is coming from GM Billy Beane.
