Washington Nationals righty Erik Davis has taken the next step in his return from Tommy John surgery back in 2014, completing his rehab assignment at Class A.
The team optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, giving the team a depth option in the bullpen to consider if all goes according to plan.
The 26-year-old hurler pitched 8.2 innings in 10 appearances for the Nats back in 2013, posting a 3.12 ERA and a sterling 12/1 strikeout to walk ratio.
While the above stat line is indicative of a very limited MLB sample size, he's still a name to watch as a potential promotion over the next few weeks or so.
