Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper is having a breakout season that has put him among the MLB's elite. Harper has been a fan favorite ever since the Nats drafted him, but here are some facts about him you probably didn't know:
5) Harper appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated during his sophomore year of high school
He's baseball's version of LeBron James!
4) Harper is a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
3) Harper has led Washington to the postseason in two of his first three seasons
And he will take them there many, many, many more times.
2) He was an All-Star in each of his first two seasons
Harper's also a shoo-in to make to it this year, meaning he'll be recognized as one of the league's best players in three of his first four seasons - all before the age of 23.
1) Harper got his GED and finished high school after his sophomore year
Getting his GED in October 2009 made him eligible for the 2010 MLB Draft, where the Nationals took him with the No. 1 overall pick. See, jocks can be smart, too!
