The Virginia Tech Hokies plan to hire Memphis' Justin Fuente as their next head coach, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy:
Justin Fuente will be new coach at Virginia Tech. Bud Foster & Shane Beamer will remain on Hokies' staff, source told @espn
— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) November 28, 2015
Fuente will replace Frank Beamer on the sidelines for the Hokies, who is retiring after 29 seasons with Virginia Tech.
The 39-year-old was one of the hottest names on the market this offseason and had also been linked to the Miami and South Carolina head coaching jobs.
Fuente was hired by Memphis in December 2011 and quickly turned around what was one of the worst programs in the country, leading them to a conference title last season and upsetting SEC powerhouse Ole Miss this year. The Tigers have also won nine games in consecutive seasons for the first time in team history.
