We're less than three weeks away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Texas Rangers and what they might do on the trade market. Here are three trades they could make at the deadline:
Trade plethora of prospects to Phillies for Jonathan Papelbon
The Texas Rangers are in the market for some back-of-the-bullpen help as they look to separate themselves from the logjam in the AL Wild Card standings, and Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon could be a legit option for Texas if they're willing to part with a premium for him. Philadelphia wants to add younger players to help their rebuilding process, and the Rangers would be willing to give some of their prospects up to get a closer of Papelbon's ilk.
Trade prospect to Orioles for Delmon Young
Baltimore is determined to get rid of Young and his $2.25 million contract, and will probably sell him for a low price. The Rangers are looking for another bat to add to their lineup, but they also have the depth and experience to take a gamble on Young without having to give up a lot.
Trade Yovani Gallardo, prospects to Phillies for Cole Hamels
If Texas decides to swing for the fences in free agency, Cole Hamels is there for the taking. They could still give the Phillies the many prospects they would have given them for Papelbon while also dealing pitcher Yovani Gallardo, who is talented but has been inconsistent on the mound.
