The Tennessee Volunteers have just two games left in the regular season, but that doesn't mean they've slowed down on the recruiting trail. In fact, the Tide's 2017 class already ranks No. 10 nationally with 26 commitments. Here are all the latest Tennessee football recruiting news:
Tennessee to flip Mississippi State commit?
Three-star defensive end Deandre Johnson (Miami, FL), has been committed to Mississippi State for three months, but after making his official visit to Tennessee over the weekend, he is now torn between the two.
“The visit was great. I got to see everything, with all the academics and the football side, so it was a great visit all in all,” Johnson said. “(I liked) just the family vibe I felt. It felt like a family. The fans, they interact with each other. The coaches, everybody was cool, and it just felt like home (away) from home.
“It’s going to be a tough one. I’ve just got to sleep on it.”
The 6-foot-3, 249-pounder is ranked as the No. 41 weak-side defensive end and No. 796 overall prospect in the country.
Vols are favorite for 3-star LB
Shanon Reid, a three-star linebacker from Fort Myers, FL, was heavily favoring Michigan, but after making his official visit to Tennessee, says the Vols are "neck and neck" with Michigan.
“I’m glad I came on the trip because it really opened up my options a lot more than Michigan,” Reid told 247Sports. “(I liked) the atmosphere and the group of guys, the coaching staff — just everybody. They’ve been treating me like family this whole week. The weather, that’s a big part, and then family, based off of how they treat their family and team and players. They actually treat them like one of their own children.”
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder is ranked as the No. 16 outside linebacker and No. 227 overall prospect in the country by 247sports.
OL target to announce decision Wednesday
Three-star offensive tackle K'Rojhn Calbert (Mcminnville, TN), one of Tennessee's top remaining targets, will announce this commitment on Wednesday:
"Actually, I'll be making my decision this Wednesday at 12 at the school," 247Sports' Luke Stampini. "I'll just make it then Wednesday, think on it hard the night before and just pray to God I choose the right school at the end of the day."
The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder is ranked as the No. 53 offensive tackle and No. 536 prospect in the country.
