The US men's national team officially advanced to the knockout round of the World Cup despite their 1-0 loss to Germany on Thursday - because the Americans had a better goal differential than Portugal, the US moved on despite finishing the group stage with the same record.
The Americans will play their next game on Tuesday, July 1st at 1:00 PM EST. The match will be played at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, which has seen a disproportionately high number of goals scored so far in this World Cup. In four group stage games, there were a total of 21 goals scored - well above the average elsewhere.
The United States will face off against Belgium, who won Group H despite less-than-convincing performances against Russia, Algeria and South Korea.
