Here Are The SEC Players On The Preseason AP All-America Teams

With the college football season set to kickoff with five games this Saturday, the Associated Press has released their preseason All-America teams. The AP has announced their first and second team units, with a several SEC players getting the nod. 

Multiple players from AuburnFlorida and LSU made the cut, while Alabama has the most overall of any team in the country with five players (four on the second team), which may not come as a major surprise. Check out the 14 players that made the cut below.  

FIRST TEAM
Offense
RB - Derrius Guice, Jr., LSU
WR - Christian Kirk, Jr., Texas A&M
K - Daniel Carlson, Sr., Auburn

Defense
LB - Arden Key, Jr., LSU
S - Minkah Fitzpatrick, Jr., Alabama

SECOND TEAM
Offense
RB - Nick Chubb, Sr., Georgia
RB - Bo Scarbrough, Jr., Alabama
WR - Calvin Ridley, Jr., Alabama
T - Jonah Williams, So., Alabama
G - Braden Smith, Sr., Auburn
C - Frank Ragnow, Sr., Arkansas
K - Eddy Pineiro, So., Florida

Defense
CB - Duke Dawson, Sr., Florida
P - JK Scott, Sr., Alabama

A number of Heisman trophy candidates find themselves on this list, showcasing the SEC's depth at the skill positions. Three of the four running backs on the teams call the conference home, and Guice, Chubb and Scarbrough all expect to be factors in the Heisman race. Two of the four receivers also come from the SEC in Kirk and Ridley, as do three of the four specialists (both kickers, one punter).

The conference may lack the defensive stars we have seen in year's past, but Key and Fitzpatrick are two of the best players in the country and are projected to be top 10 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.
