The SEC once again had an incredible effort on National Signing Day, with five schools in the National Top 10 and eight in the Top 25. While Alabama once again led the way, they were far from the only school to have a strong recruiting class.
A big tip of the hat to 247Sports, as the top recruits are based on their rankings. It's worth mentioning that all of the top 14 players are in the top 25 overall and are five-star recruits. With that in mind, let's detail the 14 best 2016 recruits who signed with a SEC school.
14. DT Benito Jones, Ole Miss Rebels
Jones is the first of three Ole Miss players, although the other two come much further down this list. Jones has already enrolled at Ole Miss and could play a big role as a freshman. He's the No. 24 overall player in the class.
13. DT Rashard Lawrence, LSU Tigers
Lawrence is one of two LSU players and checks in at No. 23 overall. LSU kept the No. 2 player in-state when he committed a few weeks before signing day. Lawrence is the No. 5 DT in the nation.
12. CB Kristian Fulton, LSU Tigers
Fulton's decision was down to LSU and Florida, and LSU kept the top player from Louisiana in the state. He's the No. 21 overall player and the No. 2 CB in the nation.
11. DE Jeffery Simmons, Mississippi State Bulldogs
Simmons is the long Mississippi State player, but keeping the top player in-state was a big one for the Bulldogs. He's the No. 19 overall player and the No. 3 strong-side defensive end.
10. DE McTelvin Agim, Arkansas Razorbacks
The lone Razorback on the list has already enrolled. Agim is the No. 18 overall player and one of the top strong-side defensive ends in the nation. Arkansas did a great job by keeping him the No. 1 player from Arkansas.
9. OT Jonah Williams, Alabama Crimson Tide
Williams is the first of three Bama players on this list. The Crimson Tide went to California to land the nation's top offensive tackle. He's the No. 17 overall player. For more on Alabama's recruiting class, download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app.
8. OLB Lyndell Wilson, Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama landed the No. 2 LB in the nation on Signing Day, beating out Auburn and Georgia for him. Wilson was the second-best player in the state and the No. 15 overall recruit.
7. ATH Mecole Hardman Jr., Georgia Bulldogs
Nearly every program in the nation wanted the No. 1 athlete. But Georgia landed him, beating out the likes of Tennessee, Alabama and Ohio State for the first of their three recruits on this list. Hardman checks in at No. 13 overall and can play cornerback, wide receiver or maybe a bit of both.
6. TE Isaac Nauta, Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan tried to make a late push for Nauta, but he stuck with his Georgia commitment and enrolled early. He's the nation's top TE and the No. 12 overall player. Download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app for more on Georgia's recruiting class.
5. ILB Ben Davis, Alabama Crimson Tide
Davis' father is an Alabama alumnus, but that didn't stop Auburn from trying to land the top player in-state. However, the Crimson Tide landed him, giving them two of the top LBs in the nation. Davis is the No. 10 overall player and looks like the next great Alabama linebacker.
4. DT Derrick Brown, Auburn Tigers
Brown is Auburn's only recruit here, but landing him was huge. The Tigers went into to Georgia to land Brown, stealing him away from the Bulldogs. He's the No. 4 DT and the No. 9 overall player in the 2016 class.
3. QB Jacob Eason, Georgia Bulldogs
When Mark Richt "resigned," Eason opened up his recruitment. Despite a strong effort from Florida (among others), Eason stuck with Georgia and enrolled early. He could start right away for UGA. He's the No. 5 overall player and the No. 2 pro-style QB, behind the next player on this list.
2. QB Shea Patterson, Ole Miss Rebels
Patterson doesn't have the greatest size, but he has the makings of a great college QB. The No. 1 pro-style QB is also the No. 4 overall prospect. He enrolled early and has a good chance to take over once Chad Kelly leaves.
1. OT Gregory Little, Ole Miss Rebels
That's right; the Rebels landed the top two players for the SEC. Ole Miss went into Texas to land Little, an impressive effort. He's the top tackle in the nation and the No. 3 overall player.
