With reports circulating that the Seattle Seahawks feared that WR Percy Harvin would launch a full-scale mutiny against quarterback Russell Wilson before trading him to New York, ESPN's Chris Mortensen has come out with a different side of the story.
As reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "per Mortensen, Wilson “actually wanted to help Percy Harvin with anger & trust issues,” and that the team — not Wilson — gave up on Harvin."
Wilson has admitted to his own share of "anger issues" as a youth, so it makes sense that he wanted to reach out to Harvin.
However, as Florio points out, "a skeptic would say that Wilson’s camp is merely saying all the right things, which Wilson himself has a habit of doing. But if it’s true that Wilson didn’t want to give up on Harvin at a time when the team clearly did, that’s proof of a rare disconnect between the organization and Wilson."
That disconnect could very well have been a product of Harvin's upsetting influence, though, and not a greater problem between the front office and the leader of the Seahawks offense.
Regardless, it will be a very interesting scene in St. Louis on Sunday when the locker room is made open to the media after the game.
