After the Mariners' 2-0 loss in Oakland, Jack Z has called up Kyle Seager from AAA. The Mariners are desperate to find hitters and this move is a must because the baseball we've seen at the plate has just been torture.
Kyle Seager (23 yrs. old) in AAA had 55 at bats with 25 hits giving him a .455 average. He hit .312 over 266 at bats in AA. The way I see Seager is almost like Ackley 2.0 except less power. Seager possesses great plate discipline ad can play all over the infield.
Seager will most likely start at 3B which leaves Chone Figgins with even less playing time as he collects his checks on the bench. Adam Kennedy will get the bulk of his at bats stepping in for Seager on his days off and at DH.
I truly hope Seager can spark this offense and it's great that we are seeing a core group of players now that are at the big league level and represent our future. Jack Z's next move? Lets hope he does something about LF. Peguero has got to go. Wedge may like the threat of power but you have to have enough plate discipline to get pitches in the zone which Peguero has not shown. Mike Carp is a better option even though he was recently sent down but perhaps Jack Z is working on a trade.
Jose Yepez was sent down to open the spot for Seager.
