The Seattle Mariners have just acquired outfielder Chris Denorfia from the San Diego Padres, adding a needed right-handed bat to their lineup as they attempt to gain ground in both the AL West and AL Wild Card races.
Here's Jon Heyman of CBS Sports with the scoop:

Per Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times, the Mariners have just confirmed the deal:
So Heyman says Chris DeNorfia is going to the M's ... M's confirm it

Denofia is hitting .242/.293/.319 with one home run and 16 RBIs in 248 at-bats this season. While his offensive numbers have dipped a bit this season, he provides a solid platoon bat along with positional flexibility in the outfield and solid speed on the base paths.
In exchange, the Mariners are giving up polarizing center field prospect Abe Almonte and pitching prospect Stephen Kohlscheen, as reported by Divish.
