In today's Giants news update, the San Francisco Giants played host to one of the greatest players in MLB history on Saturday morning, as legendary St. Louis Cardinals speed merchant Lou Brock visited the team's clubhouse.
Per Chris Haft of MLB.com, "Brock, who set career and single-season records for stolen bases until Rickey Henderson shattered both marks, was in town as a spokesman for the American Diabetes Association."
"Ready to steal a base?" excited Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco asked. Hunter Pence also asked Brock to give him "some basestealing tips" in an extremely fun and energetic exchange with Brock.
This was Brock's first-ever trip to AT&T Park. However, he did have some pretty strong memories about playing in the windy confines of Candlestick Park.
"I called for a fly ball that Willie McCovey hit," said Brock, who came in from his normal spot in left field to make a play on the ball. "I caught it in shallow right field."
