After being swept in San Diego, the Giants came back to even out there road trip with 3 wins and 3 losses as they swept the Dbacks. They’ve now won 3 out of their last 8 games, which isn’t a wonderful statistic, but shows a good shift in momentum. They had lost five games in a row before heading to Arizona.
The shift in momentum is just what Giants fans were looking to see before they host the Dodgers at home this weekend. The Giants have already faced off against the Dodgers once this season, taking 2 out of 3 in the first series of the season. Now they look to maintain that dominance over the Dodgers, and move their way into first place in the division.
The win over the Diamondbacks propelled them into second place, only half a game back from the Rockies. Until Wednesday nights win the Diamondbacks were in second place, with a 15 and 10 record. The Giants now hold a 16 and 12 record.
Over the 6 game road trip, the Giants scored a total of 29 runs, and allowed 27 runs. They were most productive in the late innings, exemplifying the entire road trip: coming back from behind. Belt in particular was responsible for a lot of hits that tied, or provided the go ahead run. Sandoval and Posey were also big contributors to the run support, and Scutaro seemed as though he’s returned to his postseason form.
Lets hope the Giants can keep up this momentum against the Dodgers this weekend. We’ll all be crossing our fingers, and chanting “Beat LA!”
