Pitchers and catchers have officially reported to Spring Training in Scottsdale, with the remained of the squad set to join them this coming Friday. Management did a great job keeping the team together this offseason, and even brought back Andres "The Giant" Torres, who helped lead the Giants to their first World Series title in San Francisco back in 2010. The Willie Mac award winner reportedly received interest from the Dodgers before signing back with the Giants.
Perhaps the biggest shock of this offseason was the lack of locks on Timmy, who's not only sporting a short 'do but more muscle as well. Hopefully he's taken this offseason not only to bulk up, but to wrong some rights and get back to the Timmy form we all miss.
Also hoping to get some more playing time is Brett Pill, who is back with the team after being optioned to the Fresno Grizzlies in June of last year. He's still wearing the number 6 at first base, which brings to mind former Giants first baseman J.T. Snow, who won 4 of his 6 career golden gloves playing first base for the Giants. Hopefully that number will start bringing him luck soon, as we've yet to see him reach his full potential with this club.
With only 10 days to go until the first game, a split squad game against the Angels, and less than 2 months to go until the season opener against the Dodgers, many young players will be vying for a spot on the roster, working hard to become part of a team poised to win back-to-back World Series titles.
