The San Francisco Giants are bringing starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong back on a one-year, $4 million deal, and both Ryan and his wife, Nicole, are ecstatic.
“I have a wife who loves San Francisco, and I’ve got her chirping in my ear every two seconds to re-sign with the Giants,” Vogelsong said Friday.
For the second year in a row, Vogelsong took a pay cut when it comes to guaranteed pay to return to San Francisco after the team had informed him they would explore other options for the starting rotation. Rather than leaving due to pride, Vogelsong waited it out both times.
“Sometimes patience is the best thing,” Vogelsong said. “It might be a little easier for me because I’m not looking to make the most money and not looking to have my ego stroked, so to speak, like some other guys might be.”
