San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said at the Giants' Fan Fest on Saturday that the organization is looking into finding an expanded instruction role for Barry Bonds during the 2015 MLB season.
“We are talking about a role that he can be happy with,” Bochy said.
Whether that means working with players at the minor league or major league levels, the SF Giants appear ready to expand on the limited amount of work Bonds was able to do with the team last spring training.
Bonds spent a week with the team in Arizona last March, working with the team's big league hitters both in the batting cage and on the field. He demonstrated some of his favorite drills to a group of players, and also worked closely with then-left fielder Michael Morse.
Whether it's an official coaching role or special adviser role that the parties have in mind, Bonds' vast cache of baseball knowledge likely won't go to waste for the Giants.
